About CMJ

The College Media Journal (CMJ) is a national industry publication that follows current progressive trends in music and in the college radio industry. It has become a resource to university radio stations nationwide. KRUA charts its top play-lists to CMJ on a weekly basis, along with 360 other radio stations. CMJ helps KRUA and other stations stay in touch with what music other college stations are playing, no matter how large their geographic separation. In addition to this service, CMJ contains articles about current trends, background information about new artists, album reviews and music news. The magazine follows current FCC regulation changes and highlights the legal implications as they may relate to college radio. CMJ is a resource used by music industry professionals to understand and best serve their college radio consumers.
CMJ Music Marathon is an annual event held in New York City. Now in its 23rd year, the conference is the biggest event of its kind, drawing more than 10,000 attendees from across the country – half of whom are college students involved with student radio. The conference hosts three days of panel discussions, keynote speeches, tutorials, demo sessions, and an interactive exhibition area. In addition, thousands of live performances at various clubs in the area are part of the nightly entertainment. Day and night throughout the event, college radio representatives have the opportunity to meet and exchange ideas and know-how with other students and music industry professionals from across the nation involved in radio.
