Volunteer

Do you think you have a voice (or face) for radio? Do you love music? How about news? Sports? Public affairs and current events? Then you need to get your hands on a KRUA volunteer application! Stop by the KRUA office in room 254 of the Professional Studies Building on the University of Alaska Anchorage campus to pick one up or just download one below. Print that puppy, fill it out, and bring it in.

Student Volunteers
Student volunteers must maintain minimum academic requirements: enrolled in 3 credits, maintained 2.0 cumulative GPA, be in satisfactory academic standing and in good disciplinary standing at University Alaska Anchorage.. All UAA students taking at least 3.0 credits pay the student media fee. All volunteers are required to fulfill a 3-hour-a-week obligation.

Student Volunteers are required to adhere to all FCC, KRUA, UAA, and UAA Media Board policies and regulations. Student volunteers will be first in line for all on-air positions.

Community Volunteers
Community volunteers will pay a fee equal to the UAA student media fee associated with KRUA per semester. Community volunteers will be required to complete the same training program as student volunteers, and are required to adhere to all FCC, KRUA, UAA, and UAA Media Board policies and regulations.

After completing the KRUA training process, community volunteers will be allowed an on-air position only after all eligible student volunteers have been given the opportunity for a position. All community volunteers will be required to work five hours/week.

Alumni Volunteers
Former employees of KRUA who left in good standing may return as alumni at their previous level after completing studio and production training. Alumni volunteers are required to adhere to all FCC, KRUA, UAA, and UAA Media Board policies and regulations.

They will be allowed on-air positions only after all eligible student volunteers have been given the opportunity for the position. Alumni are not required to pay fees.

Intern Volunteers
Intern volunteers—those individuals who have been sent to the station to fulfill academic or vocational requirements (high school students, King Career Center students, Alaska Youth Corp, etc.) will be required to complete the same training program as student volunteers and adhere to all FCC, KRUA, UAA, and UAA Media Board policies and regulations.

After completing the KRUA training process, intern volunteers will be allowed an on-air position only after all eligible student volunteers have been given the opportunity for a position. All intern volunteers will be required to work 6 hours/week.
